Tatiana, a visually impaired, expecting mother in Brazil featured in a viral Huggies video. The diaper company arranged to have her 3D ultrasound 3D printed at the hospital so she could be presented with a physical image of her son’s face she could feel with her fingers.

It’s an inspiring use of 3D printing, but one that comes with a disclaimer from Health Canada who advises against 3D ultrasounds without a proper medical need.

Flaminia Del Conte, Mirthe Monninkhof, and Quirine van Walt Meijer are design students from the University of Delft who have created a prototype health monitoring system for KLM airlines. FlightBeat adds heartbeat sensors into airline seats so that flight attendants can spot passengers who are anxious or unwell to address their needs early before takeoff.
